A large number of historical and archaeological monuments of Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome and the Middle Ages in Cyprus remained uncorrupted. Some of them are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

In Limassol, among many other monuments the most outstanding ones are the Kolossi Castle, the City fortress, the ruins of Kourion amphitheatre and the Apollo sanctuary. In Nicosia, the most significant objects are the Venetian Column, the Famagusta Gate, the Archbishop's Palace and the Selimiye Mosque. In Paphos, perhaps the richest region among other cities of Cyprus, you can visit such historically significant objects as the Royal Tombs, Baths of Adonis, the catacombs of St. Solomoni and, of course, the undeniable symbol of Cyprus - Petra tou Romiou (birthplace of Aphrodite - the goddess of love). In Larnaca you have to visit the Monastery of Stavrovouni, Saint Lazarus Church and Choirokoitia settlement - one of the oldest on the whole island. The City of Kition, built by the Phoenicians, also deserves your attention.
